About Us
This year sees the arrival of Dashing Tweeds, Britain’s latest tweed textile company. Opening up a contemporary arena for a classic quality fabric, Dashing Tweeds has created a range of tweed for the 21st entury, designed by photographer Guy Hills and weaver Kirsty McDougall.
The Urban Tweed range is inspired by the colourscape of London, from wet pavements of Piccadilly to the green parks of St. James’. For colour fidelity samples of double yellow-lines and red routes were chiselled up and taken to produce the yarn shades of the city.
The Poaching Tweed range is no less distinctive, dressing up the innovative concept of beautiful tweed for a well-groomed night out. The tweed to play in is the Sporting Tweed range. Appealing to the dandy of either sex, it adds panache to any sporting activity. Capturing the urban zeitgeist of our time in a fabric, select tweeds across each range have been designed as LumatwillTM. A unique weave of wool worsted and reflective yarn LumatwillsTM appear by day only in their smart combination of colours. By night, under illumination, hidden reflective lines shine out, offering at last, an inventive and stylish solution to attire for the pedestrian, cyclist or scooter rider.
To re-fashion tweed for our time, Dashing Tweeds has joined forces with military tailor Kashkets. Their first venture is the Scooter Coat, designed by head cutter Russell Howarth on the cut of a Household Cavalry greatcoat. The Scooter Coat is stylish and warm in the daytime and, at night, reflective and water repellent as well, providing a safe and elegant coat perfectly suited to the requirements of today’s urban environment.
The Scooter Coat is bespoke and costs £850. For men and women the ever-increasing Dashing Tweeds fabric range is available direct from Guy Hills at or 07831 548 068, and from selected tailors around the country.
